When and where is the La Leche League of Ireland Conference in 2026?

Who are the speakers and topics?

We are thrilled this year to welcome back Dr. Nils Bergman to Irish shores. Those of you who have seen Dr. Bergman speak before will know how he brings such warmth and wisdom to his talks, and we have no doubt he will leave us all feeling inspired! He is a consulting Public Health Physician, with specific expertise and interest in maternal and neonatal health care. He will also be joined by his wife Jill Bergman, who trains nursing staff and hospitals in the practicalities of skin-to-skin contact, and developmental care. We are also delighted to have Nancy Mohrbacher with us too. Nancy is actually an official Irish La Leche League Leader, and has literally written the book(s) on breastfeeding!

Topics for this years Conference will include:

  • Skin to skin?
  • ?
  • ?

Children's Activities

As is usual at La Leche League functions, your children are welcome to accompany you to sessions, meals, and all Conference areas. There will be an open floor area at the back of each session room, where you can bring some quiet toys for your baby/toddler/child if you would prefer.  Ordinary baby sounds or gleeful toddler noises will not distract speakers or delegates. A crying baby, however, may be distracting to others and may be upsetting for the baby. You may have to miss part of the session, but listening to your child so that you can tend to his/her needs is the most important thing you can do.

Tickets for children (under 18yrs) are free of charge and all children must have their own ticket.

For an extra charge at booking, we provide some activities for children aged 0-12years which will coincide with the times of our speaker sessions.

We will have a playroom available which will be staffed by early years child care professionals who are garda vetted. This room is suitable for ages 0-7 years.  Children who are 4 years and under can access this playroom while accompanied by an adult. Children who are 5 years and older can play here without an adult accompanying them, but they must be signed in and out of the room by their adult. There will be toys and activities for children to engage with. These activities will be self directed.

For children aged 8-12 years there will be guided activities throughout the weekend which will coincide with the times of our speaker sessions.  While there will be a garda vetted adult in attendance at all of these sessions, children will be free to come and go from these sessions and supervision will only be provided while they are in the session room. The number of children able to attend sessions may be limited, due to session room size constraints and they will operate on a first come, first served basis.

A children's programme of activities will be sent out to attendees prior to the Conference.

Can our organisation have a stand at the event?

If you would like to have a stand, please email: conference@lalecheleagueireland.com to discuss this further.

What accessibility considerations have we made?

To ensure that the location is as accessible to a diverse range of attendees, we have found somewhere that has good transport links and is close to numerous hotels, B&Bs, etc., or indeed commutable for those who live in certain parts of the Country.

The venue has worked hard to be accommodating to those with disabilities and is wheelchair accessible in all conference areas.

We will have a room dedicated to accommodate the needs of those who may need a quieter space, and will also ensure that seating will be reserved to accommodate those with visual or hearing impairments and have dedicated wheelchair area for any wheelchair users and their companion/colleague.

We really want to ensure that our event is accessible, so we hope to help to support and reassure you in the run up to and during the event. We welcome any feedback.

Any accommodations or requests will be gathered from you during the registration process. But if you have any additional needs, please email conference@lalecheleagueireland.com
